Neutronics Analyst

Date: Jun 5, 2024

Location: Oak Ridge, TN, US, 37830

Company: Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Requisition Id 13153

Overview:

The Neutronics Group within the Neutron Technologies Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is looking for a neutronics analyst, who can contribute to our mission of operating and further developing the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) and the High-Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) as a world-class neutron sources and user facilities. We strive towards delivering highest-intensity neutron beams from the source to the instruments, ensure that the instruments are shielded to meet the radiation protection requirements, and minimize the radiation induced background in the scattering instruments. Also, we cover the neutronics analysis aspects of the neutron source life cycle from optimizing neutron beam production to the disposal of the highly activated components at their end of service life. Upgrade projects are currently in progress to improve the neutron source facilities, both HFIR and SNS, to maintain the US and ORNL leadership in neutron scattering science. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and designers, and apply your nuclear analysis skills to finding solutions for challenging problems that we are facing at our facilities.
