Technician, Disruptive Manufacturing Systems Development

Purpose:

The main function of this position is to support the Disruptive Manufacturing Systems Development Group and affiliated groups with a focus on fabrication, integration, operation, and troubleshooting of large-scale advanced manufacturing systems, including metal and polymer 3D printers and hybrid manufacturing processes. The group efforts focus on building the science base for advanced manufacturing systems and translating those results into innovations for commercial and defense applications. Projects often integrate additive and subtractive operations, hardware and software, sensors, and data analysis. Projects will require creative solutions to challenging problems in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

 

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Support R&D staff with research experiments, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting research tools

  • Support the fabrication of new additive and hybrid manufacturing systems

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires an AS degree and a minimum of five years of experience or a High School diploma with seven or more years of experience.

  • You should have significant experience with an understanding of mechanical systems development, fabrication, integration, troubleshooting, and a variety of manufacturing processes.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with CNC and/or welding processes and fabrication is desired.
