Purpose:

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) is available in the Energy & Transportation Science Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in control theory with an emphasis in applications related to CAVs, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs). The prospective Postdoctoral Research Associate will be part of a team consisting of ORNL researchers, academic, and industry partners to work on project in this rapidly growing area. The project focuses on developing and implementing novel control technologies in PEVs that will aim at computing optimal routing, optimized driving profiles based on traffic conditions, and optimizing onboard powertrain efficiency.

 

Preferred qualifications:

We are seeking exceptional individuals who hold a Ph.D. in relevant disciplines and have demonstrated dedication to creativity, innovation, and engineering solutions. The application must include: (1) a cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) the names and addresses of three or more references, (4) a two-page statement of research interests, and (5) electronic copies of no more than three representative publications.  Applications should be submitted as a single pdf document.

 

Appointments will initially be for 24 months with a possibility of an extension of up to 12 months. Initial appointments and extensions are subject to performance and availability of funding.
