Overview:
The Web Services Group of the Information Technology Services Directorate at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks to hire an associate-level Drupal Developer to design, develop, and maintain ORNL web sites under the ornl.gov flagship web presence.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create web sites using the Drupal framework, often working on multiple sites and with multiple customers during the course of a sprint.
- Follow the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through production implementation.
- Collaborate with customers and act as a point of contact (POC) throughout web projects.
- Help formulate effective, responsive designs and turn them into working themes, plugins, sites and applications.
- Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Create highly sophisticated, customized applications in response to business needs.
- Ensure high-performance and availability and coordinate all technical aspects of the content management system.
- Be a contributing and supportive member of the Drupal team.
- Monitor and fix performance and platform related bugs as they emerge.
- Learn and abide by the operating policies and procedures of ORNL.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Two years’ experience as a Drupal developer.
- Experience with all phases of software development including requirements gathering and analysis, system design, prototype development, site design, configuration control, testing, software quality assurance, and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of the Drupal Content Management systems.
- Knowledge of PHP and Javascript and the role these languages play in the Drupal platform.
- Understanding of HTML and CSS and its role in creating consistent style across the sites.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment through contribution and participation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within project timeframes, and adapt to constantly evolving needs.
