Overview:

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security. We are seeking an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Specialist with hands-on experience working with SAP ERP systems. This position requires expertise in troubleshooting technical issues, providing user support, conducting training sessions, knowledge of data management, system integration, and reporting tools. In addition to technical skills, excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities are essential for collaborating with our cross-functional teams and ensuring successful ERP system operations. This position is within the Supply Chain Management Group, which is in the Enrichment Science and Engineering Division (ESED) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The Enrichment Science and Engineering Division serves the nation in two critical areas: advancing enrichment technologies and exploring stable isotope production and applications. The division leverages an elite staff of scientists, engineers, technicians, and business professionals with the world-leading capabilities of Oak Ridge National Laboratory to deliver groundbreaking advancements with a variety of applications, from national security to life-saving medical treatments. ESED is the national steward for the research, development, and demonstration of enrichment technologies. ORNL is a recognized leader in centrifuge and electromagnetic enrichment technology. We are the stewards and dispensary of the nation’s stable isotope inventory and have a legacy dating to the late 1940s. This division integrates the full enrichment process from chemical synthesis of feed materials through fabrication of the custom physical forms needed to support the user communities. You will work closely with a focused group of scientists, technicians, and engineers on challenging, fast paced technical projects in support of the DOE Isotope Program.

Successful development and deployment of isotope separation technologies requires an acute attention to detail and continued consideration of personnel and equipment safety.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn existing systems and business processes; develop and maintain a robust awareness of how the business operations work and help system users explore technology possibilities to execute in their roles more effectively.
  • Provide implementation consultation, project management, and support services during ERP installations, master data migrations, upgrades, and customizations.
  • Maintain and create reports using Crystal Reports.
  • Work with site users on continuous improvements and implementing shop floor solutions, defining current state and desired future state. (Business processes; data configuration; data integrity)
  • Work with Purchasing and Operations to develop an inventory classification system to allow for in- depth Supply Chain analysis and MRP planning.
  • Perform business analysis of processes and systems. Coordinate, implement, and communicate business process and system change requirements. Translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Be a change agent, lead and facilitate improvements with site users to completion. Develop and execute actions to eliminate gaps, including developing training materials and providing training as necessary.
  • Perform enterprise analysis by planning and scoping several inter-related initiatives and helping users make informed decisions about which initiatives to execute pertaining to project activities.
  • Ordering and managing licenses and renewing support agreements as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned by leadership.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Implementation of SAP or related ERP Software
  • 5+ years of experience in Development and Configuration or related ERP Software
  • Business functional experience or systems development related experience, including participation on successful project teams
  • Understanding of business processes including sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, service, planning, costing and financial accounting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community cross functionally
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP ERP modules: Finance, Sales, Customer Management, Supply Chain, Inventory Warehouse, MES and Production planning
  • Must be detail-orientated, possess a sense of urgency, and be committed to accuracy and process
  • SQL and/or SAP HANA database experience
  • Experience with Crystal Reports add on and its functions and customizations
  • SAP Business One or SAP Certification
  • MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint experience

 

Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.
