Overview:    

The Design Engineering (DE) Group within the Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division (NNFD) is seeking an Information Technology Systems Engineer with at least 5 years of experience, specializing in the design and development of modern work management solutions, product data management (PDM), and enterprise collaboration tools. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining solutions that enhance business operations using Microsoft 365 (M365), Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, & PDM systems. Additionally, the role includes managing software licenses, installations and updates, as well as managing IT devices throughout the engineering team. 

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, customize, and maintain M365 applications, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint, to streamline business processes.  
  • Design and implement automated workflows to improve efficiency in work management systems.  
  • Develop integrations between SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and other M365 applications to enhance cross-functional collaboration.  
  • Support the digital transformation of business processes by implementing no-code/low-code solutions.  
  • Oversee the implementation, administration, and optimization of product data management (PDM) software to support engineering teams.  
  • Develop tools and solutions to improve engineering data workflows and accessibility.  
  • Collaborate with engineers and IT teams to integrate PDM solutions with other enterprise applications.  
  • Manage software licensing, installations, updates, and compliance for key engineering and business applications.  
  • Oversee the deployment and maintenance of PCs, laptops, and tablets, ensuring optimal performance and security.  
  • Implement best practices for IT asset management and software lifecycle management.  
  • Work closely with engineering, IT, and business teams to identify pain points and propose digital solutions.  
  • Maintain and improve documentation, training materials, and best practices for work management solutions.  
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in M365, automation technologies, and engineering software to drive innovation.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • A BS degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development and IT systems management within an engineering organization.  
  • Strong proficiency in M365 applications, Power Automate, Power Apps, and SharePoint. 
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).  
  • Experience with product data management (PDM) systems and engineering software administration.  
  • Knowledge of software licensing, deployment, and compliance best practices.  
  • Hands-on experience with PC, laptop, and tablet management, including OS and security updates.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.  

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience developing custom SharePoint solutions and integrations.  
  • Knowledge of engineering workflows, CAD tools, or PLM systems.  
  • Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and reporting.  
  • Experience with IT asset management tools and security best practices.  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory. 
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.

This position is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and requires onsite presence.  We offer a flexible work environment that supports both the organization and the employee.  A hybrid/onsite working arrangement may be available with this position, which provides flexibility to work periodically from your home, while reporting onsite to the Oak Ridge, Tennessee location on a weekly and regular basis.
