Overview:

We are seeking an LMS Web System Administrator who will focus on day-to-day administration, support, and maintenance of the Learning Management System (LMS). This role supports training operations by ensuring accurate data management, effective program setup, and timely resolution of user issues. The position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a structured, process-driven environment.

 

This position resides in the Learning Management System group in the Office of Technical Training Division, ESHQ, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Test, deploy, and validate web-based solutions within the LMS (SuccessFactors) to ensure functionality and user accessibility
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for LMS support by managing the support mailbox and phone inquiries; troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate issues as appropriate
  • Respond to and resolve LMS-related questions from users, Training Officers, and management in a timely manner
  • Create, revise, update, and discontinue training programs in alignment with organizational requirements
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure training programs and required reading assignments are properly configured and maintained within the LMS
  • Input and maintain accurate training records, including completions and historical data
  • Create, modify, close, or cancel class sessions as required to support training schedules
  • Generate and distribute training reports to support compliance, tracking, and operational needs
  • Develop and maintain job aids and internal operating procedures; periodically review and update for accuracy and effectiveness
  • Coordinate LMS security role assignments by submitting requests for approval and guiding users on system functionality once access is granted
  • Maintain LMS data integrity by managing user assignments, correcting system data, and creating courses and class sessions as needed
  • Support the LMS System Administrator by assisting with assignment profiles, system updates, and testing system enhancements
  • Assist the Office of Technical Training in the assessment and validation of physical and digital training records
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, health, and quality (ESH&Q) program requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree.
  • Experience supporting or administering a Learning Management System.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience generating training reports.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., manufacturing, pharmaceutical, nuclear, or utilities).
  • Experience providing end-user support and resolving LMS-related issues.
  • Experience using SuccessFactors.
  • Familiarity with instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE or Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Experience testing web-based training (e.g., SCORM modules).
  • Experience supporting LMS system updates, enhancements, or configuration activities.
  • Experience developing job aids or standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.

Security, Credentialing, and Eligibility Requirements:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.
  • For employment at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), a Real ID compliant form of identification will be required.
  • Additionally, ORNL is subject to Department of Energy (DOE) access restrictions. All employees must also be able to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card as mandated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 473.1A, which requires a favorable post-employment background investigation.
