Overview: 

The Supply Chain Group within the Enrichment Science and Engineering Division (ESED) seeks applications for a Manufacturing Specialist position with experience in the areas of material management, production control and planning to support enrichment technology programs. The Enrichment Science and Engineering Division serves the nation in two critical areas: advancing enrichment technologies and exploring enriched stable isotope production and applications. The division leverages an elite staff with the world-leading capabilities of Oak Ridge National Laboratory to deliver groundbreaking advancements with a variety of applications including scientific discovery, life­saving medical treatments, industry use, and national security. This position reports to the Supply Chain Group Leader. The selected candidate will work with project staff to consistently deliver enrichment hardware of exceptional quality in support of national security and medical isotope missions by driving the development of advanced manufacturing capabilities required to deploy cutting edge enrichment technologies at scale. This position requires strong understanding of manufacturing processes, configuration management principles, quality assurance, and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) related system modules and how they provide an industry-focused solution to organization requirements.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain production data integrity within our ERP software (SAP B1) to ensure the optimization of project planning, execution, and control of production schedules. Ensure master data, work order statuses, routings, and quantities are all up to date and correct.
  • Plan, release, schedule, and track manufacturing work orders from inception at order entry through to completion of production by using our ERP system and our Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) system.
  • Perform the activities associated with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) transactions
  • Execute the timely completion on a variety of requests for manufacturing records, procedures of products, processes, and system information regarding the portfolio of products manufactured.
  • Identify/coordinate continuous improvements such a 5S and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Perform warehousing tasks from shipping/receiving, material kitting, and cycle counting
  • Engage with cross functional teams including technicians, manufacturing engineer, process engineers, quality, production leads, supply chain process owners, and program engineering to meet manufacturing needs.
  • Participate in the tracking of manufacturing performance metrics.
  • Additional duties as assigned by leadership.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Engineering, related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a buyer/planner material scheduler role working for direct manufacturing
  • Applied knowledge of forecasting, MRP, supply chain, inventory management and warehousing disciplines
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes
  • Self-motivated and directed with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience communicating/briefing leadership personnel, support staff, and customers to maintain a sustainable working relationship

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP/ERP systems
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Planning and Control (MPC)
  • Inventory Control and material handling knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with limited supervision
  • Independent thinker capable of working in a collaborative environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio) and other computer applications/programs
  • Active or Ability to obtain a DOE Q Security Clearance
