Overview: 
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks to hire a Market Analyst. The position is in the National Isotope Development Center (NIDC), reporting to the NIDC Manager. The NIDC serves as an interface with the isotope user community and coordinates isotope production and distribution across numerous program facilities (including ORNL) for the U.S. Department of Energy Isotope Program (DOE IP). The Market Analyst works directly with the NIDC staff and DOE IP program management to perform market research on isotopes used for medicine, science, and industry. The analyst will assess and report market information specific to a particular isotope or service.  The position will make recommendations to the DOE IP regarding short and long-term strategies related to the global isotope market sectors.

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Gather pertinent market and technical data using a variety of techniques (e.g., market reports/databases, scientific literature, interviews with industry contacts, surveys/questionnaires).
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify key market trends and consumer buying behaviors; make recommendations to HQ on entering/exiting isotope markets based on this information.
  • Monitor various isotope market sectors in order to alert HQ on potential shortages and/or supply chain disruptions.
  • Collect and understand isotope market prices to determine U.S. competitiveness compared to foreign sources.
  • Perform detailed market assessments on specific bulk or end-product isotope markets as requested
  • Prepare industry landscapes on market segments of interest as requested
  • Implement an annual customer survey to solicit isotope needs for the next 5 years
  • Route content through appropriate technical review process typically consisting of researchers, group leaders, program managers, NIDC, and/or DOE Isotope Program; utilize ORNL’s RESolution publication system as necessary.
  • Provide on-site support for events and conferences as needed. (Occasional travel might be necessary.)

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance, which requires US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) status.
  • Exceptional teamwork and statistical skills, with attention to detail and precision required.
  • Extremely self-motivated, creative, and passionate with excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Experience with integrating various requirements into a cohesive, effective, and efficient approach.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, Master of Business Administration

 

Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
