The Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening for a Technical Professional Staff for the NNFD Facility Management Section as a Transportation Activity Owner. In this role you will, under limited supervision, provide technical expertise in coordinating, screening, and directing radioactive material transportation activities as well as program ownership responsibilities in support of ISED research and isotope production. This position reports to the Nuclear Facility Management Section Head.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, participate in, and direct radioactive material transportation activities between ORNL nuclear and radiological facilities.
- Ensure radioactive material transportation activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable ORNL, DOT, and safety basis requirements.
- Generate, review, and maintain records related to radioactive material transportation activities to verify compliance to applicable requirements.
- Act as nuclear facility manager for the radioactive material in transport.
- Interface with both the shipping and receiving facilities to ensure a safe and compliant transportation activity.
- Act as point of contact for information regarding all NNFD radioactive material transportation activities
- Provide programmatic direction and funding to ensure NNFD research customer needs are met for radioactive material transportation needs.

Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience. Degree must be in an engineering field or related science.
- Qualified candidates must have a minimum of four years of nuclear experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department Of Energy Q Level Clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DOE Q Clearance
- Familiarity with ORNL radiological and nuclear facilities and commercially available radioactive material transportation shipping containers
- Department of Transportation regulation knowledge
DOE Security Clearance Requirement:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
