The successful candidates will be expected to work effectively under general supervision with NXSG scientists at neutron national user facilities such as the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) ( and the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) ( The general scientific focus will be on using neutron measurements of the structure and dynamics of functional and energy materials. One position will focus on understanding how hybridized atomic vibrations control energy transport and functionalities, the other position will focus on thermal transport in nuclear materials. The candidate will work in close collaboration with Dr. Raphaël Hermann and Dr. Michael Manley, respectively and in collaboration with other groups within the BES MSED program and the TETI Energy Frontier Research Center.
