The position resides in the Neutron Diffraction Section of the Neutron Scattering Division (NSD) and is a collaborative project with the Biodesign & Systems Biology Section in the Biosciences Division (BSD). The post-doc will be mentored by Dr. Flora Meilleur (NSD) and will work closely with Dr. Josh Michener’s team (BSD) on this collaborative project.

Your work in this position will directly benefit from the X-ray and neutron scattering capabilities of the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) and the High-Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) and the electron microscopy capabilities at the Center for Nanophase Material Science (CNMS).

Successful candidates will be selected via a panel interview process.  If this position interests, you and you meet the basic qualifications please apply.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Express, purify, and crystallize targeted enzymes
  • Perform biochemical characterization and mutagenesis studies
  • Determine protein structures using X-ray and neutron diffraction, cryo-electron microscopy, and microcrystal electron diffraction
  • Assist in the development and preparation of proposals
  • Publish research results in scientific journals
  • Participate in an inclusive work environment for a diverse community of users, staff, postdocs, and students
