Overview:
We are seeking a Technical Associate Staff Member with background in chemistry, radiochemistry, or engineering who will manage a radiological research laboratory, oversee research activities for the lab, and performing technical work. This position resides in our Chemical Separations Group in the Separations & Polymer Chemistry Section, Chemical Sciences Division (CSD), Physical Sciences Directorate (PSD), at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Take upon the Laboratory Safety Manager duties: overseeing the lab activities, training new participants, operating/troubleshooting lab instruments
- Conduct lab work with cold and hot isotopes (i.e., lanthanides, TM, radiotracers, etc.) in accordance with safety guidelines

Basic Qualifications:
- A BS degree in radiochemistry, chemistry, engineering, or a related discipline and two years of experience; a MS in the same areas and 1 year of experience, or a PhD in the same areas.
- Experience in lab environment conducting research or analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a variety of analytical instruments, for example, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, FTIR, KF titrator, UV-Vis, or others
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks on time, and adapt to evolving needs
Special Requirements:
- Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.
