Overview: 

ORNL is investing in our nuclear facilities to ensure the directorate goals are met and strategies are executed. To support and protect our assets we are hiring Section Head, Asset Management to lead the development and implementation of best practices and standards on maintaining and improving equipment reliability, decreasing downtime, and improving the overall manufacturing output and isotope research capabilities.  In this role you will have strong partnership with directorate leadership, engineering, and operations teams to ensure equipment is operating at optimal performance and creating a culture of continuous improvement. A successful candidate in this senior role will utilize specialized knowledge in asset lifecycle management and equipment reliability methodologies.  The candidate will have a significant track record in implementing asset management programs and deep knowledge in reliability engineering.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with directorate leadership, isotope manufacturing, R&D, maintenance teams and engineering to ensure equipment improvements are achieved through standardized asset management programs and techniques
  • Develop best practices and methods to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Provide roadmap and strategies to move the organization forward through an Asset Management maturation process
  • Establish KPI system to monitor and identify improvements in reliability, costs, regulatory compliance, and asset availability
  • Promote a culture of reliability across all levels of the organization through training and setting the example. Develop a reliability engineering function focused on continuous improvement.
  • Lead the Asset Management team including talent acquisition, performance, development, succession planning and recognition
  • Identify, influence and support improvements that result in stable, reliable, efficient operations.  Communicate reliability risk to partners.  Educate partners on reliability principles and maintenance data
  • Develop and monitor multi-year improvement plan, by site, based on formal assessments of current state, prioritized by divisional strategic priorities
  • Lead capital program planning and execution for infrastructure and equipment replacement, and new technology adoption and integration

 

Basic Qualifications

  • BS: 12+ Years of relevant experience. MS: 10+ Years of relevant experience.  PhD: 7+ Years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related technical field. 
  • Strong ability to lead and drive cultural change across an organization
  • High familiarity with the ISO 55000 series of International Standards for Asset Management

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognized industry certification such as CMRP, CRL, CFM
  • Experience in maintaining assets in a nuclear facility and familiarity with Directive DOE433.1B
  • Direct leadership of one or more full cycle asset management program implementations
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement tools and methods such as Lean and Six Sigma.  Certifications are a desirable.
     

Special Requirements:

Q or L clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy.  However, all qualified applicants will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
