Overview: 

The Supply Chain Group within the Enrichment Science and Engineering Division (ESED) seeks applications for a Supply Chain Specialist position with experience in the areas of material management, production control and planning to support enrichment technology programs. The Enrichment Science and Engineering Division serves the nation in two critical areas: advancing enrichment technologies and exploring enriched stable isotope production and applications. The division leverages an elite staff with the world-leading capabilities of Oak Ridge National Laboratory to deliver groundbreaking advancements with a variety of applications including scientific discovery, life­saving medical treatments, industry use, and national security. This position reports to the Supply Chain Group Leader. The selected candidate will work with project staff to consistently deliver enrichment hardware of exceptional quality in support of national security and medical isotope missions by driving the development of advanced manufacturing capabilities required to deploy cutting edge enrichment technologies at scale. This position requires strong understanding of manufacturing processes, configuration management principles, quality assurance, and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) related system modules and how they provide an industry-focused solution to organization requirements.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with technical contact to develop source selection strategy and plans.
  • Conducts market research for potential sources of services or supply
  • Communicate with technical staff to define/clarify the nature and function of equipment/hardware to be purchased
  • Compose/Edit specification documentation, Bills of Materials, Statements of Work, Evaluation Criteria, etc.
  • Work with the ORNL procurement office to establish the appropriate contract type and structure of solicitations and subcontracts for services, equipment, and/or material.
  • Work with procurement office to ensure purchases comply with commercial, legal and contractual obligations
  • Preparation and tracking of procurement packages for assembly fabrication and production support from specification to final delivery
  • Be the point of contact for technical questions and issues between the vendors and project team
  • Communication of procurement status with engineers, scientists, designers, technicians, and project managers.
  • Enters, tracks, monitors and coordinates raw and finished goods
  • Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health and quality program requirements
  • Maintain strong dedication to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and typically 3 or more years’ related work experience, a Master’s degree and typically 1 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to analyze technical documents and specifications to understand critical requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
  • Proven ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
  • Must be customer service oriented with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse laboratory population.
  • Advanced knowledge of the procurement process.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Familiar with reading engineering documents, drawings, engineering orders and understanding export/import regulations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products like PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Active or Ability to obtain a DOE Q Security Clearance
