Overview: 

The Fusion Energy Division (FED) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is hiring an Associate Technical Staff Member, Strategic Materials in the Remote Systems Group. Our group specializes in the development of advanced remote processes, handling systems, and robotics for inaccessible environments in nuclear fission, fusion, and particle accelerator applications. We seek individuals with technical and analytical skills who are comfortable working across disciplines to contribute and lead in fast paced, team-oriented environment. Successful candidates will have a clear enthusiasm for strategic materials research. You will be investigating strategic material supply chains to generated data for establishing risk metrics.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Work individually and/or as part of a team, utilizing knowledge and experience to create strategic material supply chains within the Palantir Gotham Platform

  • Analyze a variety of supply chain issues, determine where additional research is required and propose data gathering solutions.

  • Prepare schedules, cost estimates, status updates, and performance reports for tasks.

  • Effectively create and communicate a supply chain reviews to ORNL management and project sponsors.

  • Attend conferences to develop contacts within the scientific and technical community.

  • Accountable for compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality in the workplace.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A BS in a scientific or technical field and 2+ years of relevant experience or a MS and 1+ year of relevant experience.

  • Prior experience with strategic material supply chain research.

  • Prior experience with Palantir Technology’s Gotham Platform.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of prior working experience in a related field.

  • Experience researching assigned strategic materials and produce associated report narratives.

  • Ability to work in team environment while excelling in your own research.

  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, presentation, and writing skills are required to enable effective interaction with technical peers and program managers.
