Overview:
The Radiation Safety Information Computational Center (RSICC) is software and data center that serves to acquire, archive, evaluate and disseminate computational tools and data for applied nuclear technology. RSICC is sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
RSICC staff members are responsible for the dissemination of computational tools and data to persons within the national laboratories, academia and the nuclear industry. RSICC also maintains international collaborations with Japan’s Research Organization for Information Science and Technology (RIST) as well as the Nuclear Energy Agency within the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD-NEA). Distribution of software and data packages must be performed in compliance with export control requirements of Federal agencies including but not limited to the Department of Commerce (DOC), the Department of Transportation (DOT), the NRC and the DOE. Furthermore, all export to citizens of foreign countries not listed in Appendix A of Part 810 of Title 10 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR 81) requires a nonproliferation review by the National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA). RSICC also manages a secure CLOUD to provide access to sensitive computational tools and data to researchers that otherwise would not have access to such codes and data. The primary customers of RSICC include the DOE, the NRC and the NNSA.
The primary responsibility of this position includes processing customer registrations and requests for software and data packages. The incumbent will be required to maintain auditable records for all activities conducted by them for RSICC and will be required to maintain technical skills and knowledge necessary to perform their job functions. The incumbent will also need to work closely with ORNL’s export control department, IT staff, and RSICC’s codes coordinator.
Basic Qualifications:

HS diploma and 2-4 years’ relevant experience

Experience with database entry

Extensive experience with standard office software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Knowledge of and proficiency with internet search tools
Preferred Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience with financial record keeping

Excellent written and oral communication

Familiarity with DOE and DOE sites

Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, research environment; ability to set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks with deadlines; and ability to adapt to change
