Overview:
We are seeking an Audits and Assessments & Lessons Learned Program Manager/Subject Matter Expert (SME) who will as Program Manager/SME for both the Assessment and Lessons Learned programs; including stewardship, training, standardization, and maturation. This position resides in the Contractor Assurance group in the Office of Integrated Performance Management within the Laboratory Directors Office, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
As part of our team, you will…
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maturation of ORNL Lead Assessor training and qualification program, standardization of assessment methodologies and tools, mentorship of lead assessors, coordination with the Department of Energy Oak Ridge National Laboratory Site Office (OSO) and stakeholders in development of an integrated assessment schedule, providing oversight and feedback of in-process assessments, and driving improvements to performance in terms of quality and timeliness.
- Standardization of lessons learned templates and tools, mentorship of lessons learned generators, establishing a lessons learned network for targeted dissemination, providing oversight and feedback of in-process lessons learned, and driving improvements to performance in terms of quality and timeliness.
- This role will integrate closely with Human Performance Improvement (HPI) SME to ensure ORNL lessons learned analyze and account for HPI elements. Process improvements in this space will integrate HPI elements and coordinate closely with the Regulatory Reporting SMEs to improve quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and timeliness.
- A core component will be to refocus on the fundamentals of lessons learned; ensuring ORNL is effectively analyzing, responding, correcting, and learning from operational events/incidents. The SME will be available to complete/lead development and dissemination of impactful Lessons Learned.

Basic Qualifications:
- A B.S. or B.A in business or technical discipline is required for this position.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience with a B.S. or 7 Years of experience with advanced degree.
- Previous experience in assessments, issues management, or lessons learned/operating experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.
Special Requirements:
Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
