Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a Windows System Administrator to join our team in support of a high-profile federal regulatory program.  The System Administrator’s primary duty will be maintaining systems in existing development, test, production, and classified environments that includes Windows 2012/2016 servers and Windows 10 PCs.  The System Administrator will play a large role in supporting the day-to-day operations and will also be utilized to support the team in the implementation of special projects and assist in designing future systems. 


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical support for both hardware, software, and network issues that may arise. 
  • Implement and test required system changes for both Windows Server and Desktop systems. 
  • Provide support for special projects related to the supported program. 
  • Work after hours as required to support the project. 


Basic Requirements: 

  • Active Q or equivalent security clearance. 
  • 5+ years of experience patching Windows operating systems (experience with IBM BigFix Patch Management a plus). 
  • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot Windows Server and Desktop systems. 
  • Ability to function as part of a team. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience managing user accounts in a Windows Active Directory. 
  • 2+ years of experience configuring domain group policies. 
  • Experience applying DISA STIGS. 
  • Experience working with government systems. 
  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies and VMWare. 
  • Experience with Windows 2012/2016 servers. 


This position requires a Q clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
