Overview:

We are seeking a Systems Engineer who will support the IT Systems group in the Field Intelligence Operations , National Security Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
The Systems Engineer functions as part of an elite Information Technology team responsible for providing both server and system administration as well as computing systems support services in a classified (primarily Microsoft Windows based) environment. This position will interface with the Department of Energy Headquarters (DOE HQ), Other Government Agencies (OGA's), and external customers to design, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot new and existing systems. Additional duties may include COMSEC Custodian, TEMPEST Coordinator, and may require appointment as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) for one or more classified systems requiring interpretation, coordination, documentation, and application of information system security requirements.
- Planning, configuring, implementing and maintaining Systems Center
- Creating, updating and maintaining Data Center documentation
- Workstation management, including operating systems and application delivery
- Server management, including management of Active Directory
- Planning, testing and creating group policy
- Designing, configuring, and maintaining operations monitoring
- Designing, planning and maintaining Data Center Virtualization
- Designing, planning and maintaining Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
- Designing, configuring, and managing storage systems
Basic Qualifications:
- An Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years experience. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- VMware, Windows Server and NetApp experience.
- Experience in server and system administration in classified environment
- Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking, planning, troubleshooting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs

Special Requirements
Q clearance with SCI: This position requires the possession of and the ability to maintain a Top Secret (TS) or DOE “Q” security clearance and the ability to obtain a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance based on Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 704 requirements. Additionally, all employees of the Division are required to successfully complete a security evaluation, including a Counterintelligence scope polygraph examination. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program. Some afterhours work is required.
