Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide total compensation consulting services to the Human Resources organization and to line organizations at ORNL. In this position you will interface with multiple lines of business and with Human Resources in assisting to design, develop and deliver total compensation policies and programs that enables ORNL to recruit and retain the staff necessary to empower the laboratory to become the premier research institute in the world.

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate implementation of all compensation programs.
  • Support Management, HRBP and Talent Acquisition in determining fair and equitable pay for external job offers and internal promotions. 
  • Ensure compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Participate in compensation surveys, perform survey job matching, and conduct ad-hoc benchmarking and market research as needed
  • Provide ongoing data maintenance and technical support to Compensation Systems such as PayScale (Market Pay), including data loading, reporting and system administration.
  • Generate ongoing reports from Market Pay, Success Factors and SAP to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Compensation Program.  Run ad-hoc queries as requested.
  • Analyze data and derive conclusions and make recommendations or explanations as necessary.
  • Partner with cross functional teams on special projects such as designing and implementing new compensation programs, process improvements, compensation assessments and automation of new solutions
  • Maintain a strong commitment to the development and sustainment of an organizational culture reflecting the highest standards of integrity, values and ethics
  • Perform work with some amount of direction, exercising latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
  • Interpret local, state, and federal laws regulating compensation practices

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business with a minimum of four years of experience and two years of compensation experience
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to handle superior level of confidentiality concerning employee information.
  • Ability to work in a consultative manner as a team member in a collaborative environment.
  • This position requires a high level of proficiency in business computing software, HRIS systems and reporting writing tools, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.

 

Qualifications Desired:

  • Four years of relevant Compensation Analyst experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Payscale (Market Pay), Success Factors and SAP software is a plus.
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation or progress towards a CCP is a plus.
