Overview:

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) invites candidates to apply for a Creative Services Project Coordinator position in the Communications Division.

The project coordinator will facilitate workflow and streamline work processes within Creative Services (CS), which includes writers, editors, designers, reproduction/printing staff, photographers, and video producers who create diverse communications materials for distribution to the US Department of Energy (DOE) and both general and targeted audiences. Under minimal supervision the candidate will handle workflow, customer service, and timely output of these projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as CS liaison with ORNL’s Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) to complete development of final modules for CS project management tool (SCOUT).
  • Work proficiently in scheduling programs and the CS project management tool (SCOUT) to streamline creative processes.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate CS work, including scheduling related meetings and aligning staff.
  • Compile, analyze and present CS metrics to management in order to highlight trends and identify possible new service offerings.
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools from concept to completion. Generate status reports and conduct post-project evaluation, including gathering customer feedback.
  • Assist with file management and archiving.
  • Participate in general planning and organization related to production of significant deliverables, such as reports, brochures, digital signage, fact sheets, and collateral material for high-profile events and presentations.
  • Prioritize requests, coordinate and schedule work, ensure compliance with branding standards, perform quality assurance reviews, and facilitate production with reproduction and outside printers and/or vendors to meet tight, demanding project deadlines and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Diplomatically facilitate communication among project partners, including customers, managers, individual contributors, and communication leads.
  • Provide backup support for photography and videography.
  • Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Operations Center.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, art, graphic design, or a related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a marketing, advertising, graphic design, and/or public relations firm; project management experience; and knowledge of the creative and production processes for print, event, digital, and video deliverables are highly desired.
  • Experience in a public relations, graphic design or journalistic setting preferred.
  • Must be be self-motivated and foster high-quality work.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail; strong customer service skills; the ability to understand, follow, and implement complex instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the flexibility to handle multiple assignments for multiple customers simultaneously; and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work—both independently and with all levels of researchers and staff—in a team-based environment; and strong skills in solving problems and developing and implementing solutions.
