The Prototype Manufacturing Group within the Enrichment Science and Engineering Division (ESED) seeks applications for an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Specialist position with experience in the areas of mechanical fabrication, assembly, and inspection processes to support multiple enrichment technology programs. The Enrichment Science and Engineering Division serves the nation in two critical areas: advancing enrichment technologies, and exploring enriched stable isotope production and applications. The division leverages an elite staff of scientists and engineers with the world-leading capabilities of Oak Ridge National Laboratory to deliver groundbreaking advancements with a variety of applications, from national security to life-saving medical treatments. This position reports to the Prototype Manufacturing Group Leader.


The selected candidate will work with engineers, quality representatives, project managers, and other project staff to provide best-in-class ERP business and industry capabilities for project activities. This position requires strong understanding of ERP system modules and how they provide an industry-focused solution to organization requirements.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains ERP system modules and overall business process improvements relating to application functionality, logic, and architecture
  • Collaborate with application end users and IT to support system upgrades, new processes, initiatives and future integrations.
  • Provide leadership and support tasks of fabrication and manufacturing concepts and practices, supply chain management, and other ERP module related functions
  • Accountable for compliance with ORNL IT department standards, including but not limited to security, proper design, project documentation, coding standards, and approval processes
  • Consult with end users to understand and improve their ERP related processes; designing solutions and training to address any gaps within their area of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support manufacturing planning, procurements, document control, and supply chain management tasks.


Basic Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related subject
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working directly within ERP programs and implementations
  • Experience in MS SQL query development and data migration
  • Understand process flow and relationships with ERP application: financial, engineering, purchasing, inventory management, manufacturing operations, etc.
  • Experience with software implementations, manufacturing, supply chain or other applicable business processes comprised within ERP ecosystems.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DOE Q clearance
  • Experience with the following: SAP B1 (ERP) / SAP ECC / PowerBI / MS SQL Server / Crystal Reports
  • Self-directed, with the ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing facilities and processes
