Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a full-stack software engineer to deliver innovative solutions that contribute to both groundbreaking scientific research and the implementation of regulatory integrated data management solutions. This position will reside within the Performance Engineering Group in the Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate. The Performance Engineering Group goes past traditional approaches to develop new methods for meeting user needs across a wide range of domains. In this role, you will be intricately involved in both the design and development of complex solutions needed to meet the program sponsor’s requirements.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to the design and development of applications based on sponsor requirements.
  • Collaborate with System Administrators and DBAs to support production applications.
  • Assist in deploying releases to production, test, and development environments.
  • Provide technical assistance to other staff and customers as necessary.
  • Analyze new and emerging technologies and tools for applicability to the job.


 Basic Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Prior experience with any of the following languages and data formats: Oracle Application Express (APEX), Oracle PL/SQL and/or SQL, Python, Java EE, C++, JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS, REACT and Node.js, HTML, CSS, XML, JSON and regular expressions.
  • Prior experience with any service-oriented architectures (SOA) such as REST data services, APIs, and microservices.
  • Prior experience with any of the following database systems/types: relational (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgresSQL, etc,), document (JSON, AWS DocumentDB, MongoDB, etc.), spatial, graph, and other unstructured databases.


Special Requirement:


This position requires the ability to obtain a DOE L or Q clearance. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with automated deployment and testing environments
  • Knowledge of UML.
  • Experience with data analysis, risk analysis, and data analytics
  • Ability to function as a member of a multi-location development team.
