Overview:
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening for a Technical Professional staff member for the NNFD Facility Management Section as the Radiochemical Engineering Development Center (REDC) Facility Manager. In this role you will be responsible for the overall safe and compliant operation of the Building 7920 and 7930 catgory 2 nonreactor nuclear facilities. This position reports to the NNFD Facility Management Section Head.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the REDC facilities are operated within the bounds of the applicable safety basis documents including surveillance frequencies, LCO action time limits, Specific Administrative Controls, and compliance with credited safety management programs.
- Ensures facility related upsets and/or abnormal conditions are properly evaluated to determine potential impacts to the safety basis and related safety management programs, if occurrence reporting is necessary, and participation in corrective action development to prevent recurrence.
- Facilitates the consistent, compliant, and efficient implementation of work control across the maintenance, operations, and R&D groups working within the REDC facilities.
- Ensures rigorous compliance with the Unreviewed Safety Question Determination (USQD) process by evaluating all proposed changes consistently and properly prior to implementation to ensure that the facility remains within the approved safety basis.
- Ensures that facilities and assets are established and maintained through prioritization and coordination with the NNFD Asset Management Section.
- Maintain direct responsibility for safe operation within the facilities including review and approval of material transfers to/from the facility, daily operation of the facility, ensuring minimum staffing requirements are met, control of physical changes in the facility, and interfacing with tenant organizations to ensure availability of essential services.
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a B.S. degree with 8 years relevant experience, or significant relevant combination of education and experience as defined in DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, Qualification and Certification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, Attachment 1, Chapter 1, Section 3b and 3c.
- Degree must be in an engineering field or related science.
- Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of nuclear experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with facility management of DOE Category 2 or 3 nonreactor nuclear facilities.
- Familiarity with maintaining assets in a nuclear facility and DOE G 433.1-1
