The Technical Support Services Group in the Safety, Engineering, and Support (SES) Section of the Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division (NNFD), within the Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate (ISED), is seeking a NNFD/Isotope Processing and Manufacturing Division (IPMD) Training Officer.  This position is responsible for implementing program-level training (i.e., not facility-specific) for NNFD/IPMD personnel to support nuclear operations.  Responsibilities will include development, implementation, and maintenance of the qualification programs for Technical Support Personnel as required by DOE Order 426.2, as well as administration of institutional requirements for staff in non-qualified positions.


Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage the qualification programs for Technical Support Personnel per NNFD-009
  • Monitor status of staff training/qualifications
  • Manage institutional training requirements for each staff member’s position
  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities required in specific jobs
  • Conduct job and task analyses to identify critical tasks and task elements requiring training
  • Develop and maintain lesson plans, instructional aids, and tests necessary to support initial and continuing training.
  • Implement developed training in various settings (i.e., classroom, OJT, mockup)
  • Develop, grade and administer written, oral, walkthroughs, operational and scenario examinations
  • Assist in conducting periodic comprehensive training program self-audits/self-assessments, as directed
  • Assist in planning, developing, and conducting drills and exercises, as directed
  • Administer and maintain all associated training records in an organized and readily auditable format
  • Maintain instructor qualifications


Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years relevant experience (or equivalent experience for higher degrees)
  • Experience and/or course material in education or training that focuses on instructional analysis, design, development, delivery and testing as well as evaluation of training programs


Qualifications/Skills Desired

  • Familiarity with DOE Order 426.2
  • Prior experience in a nuclear environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people having a wide range of technical and scientific backgrounds
