We are seeking an Associate Technician who will focus on providing technical support for neutron physics experiments and other experimental work in Physics Division. This position resides in the Neutron Symmetries group in the Physics Division, Physical Sciences Directorate (PSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

The Neutron Symmetries group at ORNL conducts forefront research on understanding fundamental properties of neutrons and their interactions. Our group is seeking for a new technician to join the team to provide support to the group activities at the intersection of fundamental nuclear/particle physics and applications. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment. There will be opportunities to expand the candidate’s technical skillset through support of new fundamental physics research experiments such as Nab, nEDM@SNS, and searches for rare neutron oscillations, in applied radiation detection programs, and in other nuclear and particle physics experimental work in Physics Division. The candidate will make contributions to design, fabrication, and assembly of electronic, vacuum, and cryogenic systems and in supporting the general hardware and software framework for the experiments.

Home to some of the world’s premier scientific facilities, ORNL is a great place to work with eminent colleagues and build an extraordinary career. Our group is carrying a broad research program in nuclear, particle, and astrophysics with emphasis on fundamental weak force interactions. The research program of the Physics Division also includes studies of neutrinos and their properties as well as relativistic heavy ion research and applied work.
