Overview: 

The Quality Assurance Division (QAD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Quality Representative supporting  performance analysis. This position is responsible for using independent judgment in the analysis and direction for assessment and issues management tasks that contribute to successful business operations and management system performance. This position works across organizational lines to provide thorough and independent expertise in such areas as monitoring organizational and management system performance, data collection, analysis, trending, and reporting. The position independently manages and maintains processes and tools used for assessment/issues management and compiles detailed and complicated charts, graphs and reports to reflect management system performance. Additionally, experience in supporting the quality management system is essential. This position resides in the Quality Assurance Division in the ESH&Q Directorate, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Lead team efforts to maintain effective and compliance assessment and issues management processes

  • Provide support in assessment planning and in identifying and/or developing meaningful process performance metrics, key performance indicators and data analysis techniques

  • Conduct assessments to ensure quality processes, tools and training programs are compliant and effective

  • Ability to conduct analysis of data generated from multiple organizations across the laboratory to deliver performance summaries and trends for management and assurance purposes

  • Compile, maintain, and report institutional performance data as assigned or requested, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and completeness of the data.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with QAD staff to support and ensure the effective implementation of quality programs, including:

  • Records Management Officer (RMO)

  • Document Management Coordinator

  • QAD SharePoint Administrator

  • Division Training Officer (DTO)

  • Assessments and Issues Management

  • Weekly Report Development

  • Issues & commitments management tracking for the QMS, including the QAD business plan

  • SAP Role Administrator

  • Quarterly QMS Trend Meeting coordination and facilitation

  • Procedure development and maintenance

  • Report writing for QMS deliverables

  • Apply knowledge and judgment to actively contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards for the effective implementation of system processes and tools.

  • Provide training and support on processes and tools as requested.

  • Execute special projects and generate reports as assigned.

  • Assist with walk-downs at various locations across the laboratory.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a science, business, technical or related discipline

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality, including information management and issues management.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships and networks.

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and contribute creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.

  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize, identify key insights, and draw conclusions from both quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Competence with management system hierarchies and processes.

  • Knowledge and experience in data collection and analysis across various data streams within the laboratory.

  • Ability to work independently or as a team member in a collaborative environment, exercising sound judgment and responsibility.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.

  • Proven flexibility in responding to requests for information or action with a short turnaround time.

  • Proficiency in software such as MS Access, MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.

  • Ability to effectively work with management and staff at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in fast-paced research environments, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while adapting to evolving needs.

  • Experience as a critique facilitator and root cause analyst, or the ability to obtain qualifications as an ORNL Critique Facilitator and ORNL Root Cause Analyst.

  

Special Requirements:

Q or L clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
