The Information and Process Management (IPM) Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is hiring a seasoned SAP BI/BW Analytics DeveloperCritical to the success and support of IPM, you will work directly with key business process owners and subject matter experts to configure system modules, implement business process solutions, manage projects, provide end user training, and ensure compliance with data regulations and security protocols. The IPM team identifies time-consuming internal processes and then builds solutions that are reliable and scalable for ORNL.  Major Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose solutions, including system configurations, to meet business process needs and requirements.  Proposals include writing business cases, identifying requirements, completing gap analyses, and researching technical and functional solutions.
  • Initial scope of this position supports Human Resources; the future state of this role offers the opportunity to support BI/BW needs outside HR.
  • Design/recommend reports and write queries.  Analyze reports and identify specifications.
  • Provide expertise on system configuration and functionality for upgrades, maintenance, and enhancements.
  • Consult with managers, business process owners, subject matter experts, system super users, and end users concerning business needs and HCM solutions. 
  • Prepare, coordinate, and lead system demonstrations. 
  • Benchmark industry, vendor, association, and other agencies concerning best practices.  Advise organizational leaders regarding change management practices.
  • Advise and assist end users to understand HRIS/HCM data, to determine optimal reports for data extraction, to set report specifications, and to analyze report data.
  • Audit and assess validity of data in HCM.  Recommend system and business process changes to maintain or to increase data integrity.
  • Monitor and apply regulatory and legal changes that affect business processes and system functionality.
  • Initiate and lead design and testing of reports, interfaces, forms, and conversions.  Perform validation and reconciliation of data conversions.
  • Create business process documents, flow charts, and decision-making documents.  Document user requirements.
  • Develop and initiate training content. Teach individual and group classes on HRIS/HCM business processes, incorporating organizational rules, contract requirements, and other state and federal regulations.
  • Research, evaluate, implement, and administer third party software tools to streamline business processes and to enhance HCM functionality.
  • Identify new or changed end user secure roles.  Test/clarify role conflicts and coordinate with business process owners on a strategy.
  • Manage project resources to complete project objectives within budget and on schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health and quality program requirements.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years of experience in one or more functional areas of HRIS/HCM solutions, as well as expert proficiency with Business Warehouse, Business Intelligence, SQL, etc.

Note: Prior HCM cloud system experience with SAP (SuccessFactors), Oracle, WorkDay, Cornerstone, SABA, or other industry leaders is highly desirable.

  • Position requires three to five years (minimum) of experience managing moderately complex projects, including experience interpreting and analyzing information system requirements, developing complex solutions, and configuring HRIS/HCM systems. 
  • Position demands excellent oral and written communication skills, with an emphasis on customer interaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly organized, accurate, set priorities appropriately, and work on challenging projects with tight timelines. 
  • Position requires working capabilities in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Position requires advanced to expert knowledge and skill in business intelligence technologies, such as data integration, data quality, data warehousing, master data management, and data analytics. 
  • Position also demands advanced to expert knowledge and skill-providing information to make business decisions, using data mining, querying, reporting, and business analytics. 
  • Position requires an ability to analyze system capability and to make configuration recommendations based on business processes. 
  • Individual must be able to research system technical and functional solutions, to benchmark industry trends, to identify legislative and regulatory impacts, and to provide gap analyses to management.
  • Individual must have a rapid learning ability and mental agility to deal with quickly changing technology. 
  • Individual must perform tasks with limited supervision, a strong customer focus, and with a team orientation. 
  • Incumbent must have experience in working with information of a business sensitive nature, with proven ability to meet this responsibility in a professional and ethical manner.
