Date: Sep 8, 2023

Location: Oak Ridge, TN, US, 37830

Company: Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Requisition Id 11348

Overview:
Ready to build on your scientific achievements and lead a group in an internationally recognized research and computing institution? Picture yourself in The Advanced Technologies section at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)!

Oak Ridge is seeking a Group Leader for the Workflow and Ecosystem Services team. The group specializes in creating and deploying sophisticated workflow technologies. Its primary goal is to improve the efficiency and dependability of research applications running in distributed large-scale advanced computing environments by developing efficient integration solutions for computation, storage, and visualization resources, while using advanced networking and software capabilities to optimize data movement. The team's main objective is to empower scientists and researchers by enabling them to effectively apply leadership-class and distributed computing resources offered by various DOE computational and observational user facilities.

The Advanced Technologies section offers scientific, technical, operational, and thought leadership by developing, hardening, and deploying solutions for compute and data intensive computing environments. The section's staff develops and deploys emerging large-scale data science and AI methods for scientific user programs and enables innovation through operational data analytics. Staff members facilitate data stewardship and enriched scalable data access capabilities and develop end-to-end scientific workflow technologies for user programs. They identify technical gaps in the computing and data sciences ecosystems, so they can implement solutions to enable scientific discovery. This job is in the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) Division at ORNL. NCCS has a deep legacy in High Performance Computing (HPC) operating leadership-class systems, deploying the world’s first exascale supercomputer system (Frontier), and largest parallel file system.
