Overview:

We are hiring a SharePoint/365 Developer to design, develop, and maintain strategic solutions for ORNL SharePoint sites and Microsoft365 applications! This position requires active involvement with stakeholders on our intranet. Applicants should be passionate about employee engagement and communications.This role resides in the Web Services group in the Information Technology Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Working on our team, you’ll be in a highly collaborative environment with other business and technical professionals to gather, clarify, document, and verify application requirements.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with:
    • customers to understand, analyze and document the business needs as requirements, typically in the form of features or user stories
    • the design and development teams to produce high-fidelity designs that can be reviewed with customers and built by developers
    • application owners and the development team to resolve issues discovered during testing, or in production, and track to closure
    • the Team Lead and Tech Lead to surrounding intranet and communication strategy
    • the Communication group and other intranet stakeholders to improve current intranet experience and plan for future intranet upgrades
  • Update the official requirements documentation needed to align with our Software Quality Assurance (SQA) program.
  • Develop and complete acceptance test plans that are traceable to the official SQA requirements documentation.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings and workshops with intranet stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications: 

  •  A BS in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems analysis, business systems, or related field of study and five (5) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Three (3) years of proven experience in SharePoint intranet development and design.
  • One (1) year experience with Microsoft Viva.
  • Expertise in all phases of SharePoint online development: requirements gathering and analysis, system design, prototype development, site design, configuration control, testing, software quality assurance, and maintenance.
  • Strong collaborative and customer service skills and experience working with customers to identify and come up with solutions working within established development and UI/UX standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Past or current experience with Figma and ShortPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiar with accessibility standards.
  • Motivated self-starter who can both work independently and participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.
