The Mission Applications Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a Software Developer to join our team and help create lasting impact in our world. As part of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Division, we are a world-class leader in the development and deployment of technology influencing medicinal research, space exploration, nuclear energy, global security, and more. Our Software Developers partner with organizations and subject matter experts to solve complex problems through software solutions that have influence across the globe.


Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented Software Developer who can optimally manage the following job responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain web applications, primarily using a Microsoft tech stack.
  • Work with team members and independently to evaluate requirements and explore possibilities that lead to effective software solutions.
  • Utilize standard coding techniques and conventions and pursue their improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members, project managers, QA specialists, subject matter experts, and others to define and document requirements and ensure delivered applications are quality proven.


Basic Requirements

  • B.S. degree in computer programming or related field.
  • At least three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET Framework, Microsoft .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET MVC pattern, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficiency with code repository tools, preferably Git.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of object-oriented programming and the ability to write performant, maintainable code which follows industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • The ability to work effectively as a member of an agile development team and independently.

Special Requirement

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse Policy (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
