The Mission Applications Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer to join our team and help create lasting impact in across the globe. Our Software Developers partner with organizations and subject matter experts to solve complex problems through software solutions that have influence around the world.

 

We are seeking a Software Developer to join our team and effectively manager the following job responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain web applications, primarily using a Microsoft technology stack.
  • Collaborate on efforts to analyze and understand complex requirements.
  • Ensure delivered applications meet or exceed user expectations and are quality proven.
  • Exercise creative and analytical thinking with diverse and multidisciplinary groups to envision and execute innovative software solutions.
  • Effectively present technical designs to non-technical audiences.
  • Accurately estimate software development projects and tasks.
  • Navigate appropriate communication channels for solving issues as they arise.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in computer programming and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with full-stack web development using a Microsoft technology stack, specifically C#, .NET (Framework and/or Core), ASP.NET, EF, SQL Server, and related web technologies such as JavaScript, Typescript, and HTML/CSS.
  • Proficiency with application lifecycle management tools (preferably Git and TFS/Azure DevOps).
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and the ability to write performant, maintainable code following industry OOP standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using the MVC pattern
  • Experience developing Web APIs
  • Experience using the Progress/Telerik Kendo UI control suite
  • Experience developing single-page applications using React
  • Experience with UX and/or Usability Testing
  • Familiarity with graphical tools (e.g., PhotoShop, Gimp, Pixlr, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools (e.g., Octopus Deploy, Team City, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Cloud-based infrastructure
  • Experience working on a team adhering to Agile methodology practices
  • Experience designing relational databases

 

Clearance Information:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse Policy (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
