Overview:
We are seeking a Treasury Specialist who will focus on supporting Treasury functions within the Business Services Directorate at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The incumbent will assist management and will perform various critical Treasury and Banking functions. Responsibilities will also include other projects as assigned. This position resides in the Treasury and Corporate Accounting group in Business Services Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists management with the monitoring and assessment of Treasury Services operations
- Performs reconciliation and management of ACH and check payments
- Processes and dispatches payment files to banking institution
- Prepares various bank reconciliations and reports in support of Treasury Services operations and reporting requirements
- Works within the online banking system to make deposits and obtain daily activity reports
- Manages outstanding check processes
- Reviews and processes ACH enrollments for both internal and external vendors including changes to existing bank information
- Provides professional guidance and assistance to Treasury and Corporate Accounting in evaluating, implementing, documenting, and monitoring of effective internal controls, procedures, and processes
- Effectively works as a member of a team, maintains a positive and willing attitude, and performs in a customer service-oriented manner
- Maintains strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of five years of experience in finance, accounting, or treasury related role, or and equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to responsibly maintain work requirements and meet stringent deadlines on a daily basis, applying self-initiative and capability for working in an autonomous and independent manner with minimum direction.
- Excellent attention to detail and well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Requires proficiency in applying account principles, and UT Battelle /Department of Energy (DOE) policies and procedures.
- Ability to become familiar with the ORNL accounting system and other external business applications in order to proficiently perform responsible tasks is required.
- Position requires superior human relation skills that promote effective and positive interactions with the team and a diverse client base, both internal and external to ORNL.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of UT-Battelle and DOE accounting systems, policies, and procedures is desired.
- Experience with SAP and Sage/Peachtree software applications.
- Experience with delivering training including the preparation of information and/or data and providing oral presentations.
- Ability to address informational requests and other special assignments.
- Experience in the evaluation and implementation of internal control procedures for cash and banking processes is preferred.

- Keeps supervisor informed of any Treasury issues that arise which may have an impact on successful and/or compliant operations
